Went for a hack today. Over 3 hours in GLORIOUS sunshine with J & A. Very proud of A as it was her first hack in a group and first long hack. Her mare was a credit to her though, she was fab.
Canter was a bit interesting. Two canters - steady for T-Jay but he still covers ground. Tried to let him go like N says but he was too busy doing star jumps left right and centre. Literally. There was a tree up in front which he clocked and I just KNEW he would stop at, but mis timed my boot in the ribs so we went fast canter to halt to fast canter again. Whiplash!
I have got far too used to sitting back and enjoying the scenery when it comes to T out hacking in canter and today I had to really really work. Hard. Was beetroot colour when we got to the end!! My knees are like jelly from all the shock absorbing I had to do as we shot sideways every other stride!
Was pleased though that on the last canter, J cantered without any warning, T launched himself into canter but not once did he buck or even THINK of bucking so am pleased with that.
Was planning on schooling tomorrow but might take him for a pootle up sheep fields to loosen any stiff muscles.
We went miles today. All on quiet lanes or bridle ways, couple of fields but I so love the hacking over there. Have been hacking over there almost 20 years and have never been round that bit. Was lovely over there.
