In the beginning.....

I fear I have done something rather stupid....

After riding just 7 dressage tests (unaffiliated) in 2 years, our affiliated debut is on Saturday. I entered two Novice classes, thinking the times would be closer together than 1 x prelim and 1 x novice. I didn't look at what classes they were.

N37 and N38 :'(

Both are 60m tests, both classes are huge, I have a 2hr wait between tests. I've only ever ridden one 60m test and all I can remember is the line of expletives that popped into my head as I turned down that first centre line!My horse hasn't done counter canter for pretty much 2 years and even then it wasn't perfect.

I haven't ridden him since Tues and won't get chance to ride before Saturday now.I have a list of excuses the length of my arm. Why have I done this? I really am a sandwich short of a picnic sometimes :(

On the up side though is that there is just about NOTHING in place for a nice, easy, inviting welcome into the world of affiliated (afflicted) so I'm surprisingly not nervous as I'm not expecting to do very well at all.If we do well, it'll be entirely down to my wonderful horse and the patience my lovely instructor has had with us over the years rather than the muppet riding him (ie me).

Now .... does anyone have a spare consistent outside rein contact going that I could borrow for Saturday to give ourselves half a chance?! Oh and a spare hour or two to actually learn the tests?
